My puppy is eating Science Diet Small Bite Dry Puppy Food.
I’ve heard that any Hill’s Science Diet food is just so-so for quality and nutrition.
I would like to spend about the same $ , but if I can get something better & more nutritionally sound for same price…I’d be interest in checking it out.
A NEW dry dog food just came out and I have no knowledge about it:
Cycle Natural Radiance Recipe

- in Puppy, Adult, Senior, Overweight formulas
- Del Monte is the manufacturer
Claims are:
- Rich, natural protein from chicken meal for strong muscles.
- Vegetables loaded with antioxidants for strong immune system.
- Whole grains for healthy digestive system.
- Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids for healthy skin, shiny coat
- No added Gluten or filler.
- Made in Canada (but I’ve no idea where ingredients come from).
At Walmart CANADA and Zellers.
Saw it today and Chicken, Soy Protein were top of ingredient list.

Chicken meal is the pure chicken with liquid removed. It’s much better to have meal as a first ingredient, than say, chicken which when dried is not the first ingredient anymore! Wheat is a big fat no no! I’ve heard good things about newman’s just make sure there’s no corn or wheat or glutens in any food you decide on.
EDIT: I just checked newman’s own. the first ingredient appears to be chicken, which when dried will move way down the ingredient chain. Then chick meal, fine…then about 5 or 6 grains…that’s kind of alot. If your’ pup has no allergy problem to it, I guess it would be fine.
No to soy protein. It’s junk food. Chicken meal is not chicken.
No to anything at Walmart. They sell grocery store garbage and worse.
Doesn’t sound that great. Only good food I’ve seen available at Walmart, is Newman’s Own (that brand is beginning to appear everywhere, and is good quality). I haven’t seen them introduce Newman’s Own dog food into Walmart yet.
I also reccomend Newmans Own. I have spotted it in chain grocery stores and even gas stations.
any cycle dog food is crap. try solid gold beef and barley formula, it is what i feed.
